In the Chromium (or Chrome) browser if you long click on the [Back] arrow you get recent history. Firefox users [Right click].
It even works on my Samsung tablet.

Middle click on Chrome's Home button will open a new tab with your chosen "home page".
High-lite a word and middle click on Chrome's new tab button and a new tab will open with a Google search result of high-lited word.

Interesting. Your first example also works with [Ctrl] and Chrome's Home button. Your second example doesn't work with [Ctrl].
