Re: Problems with Message and the window that creates it

but is it possible to make the form open or change it to Modal or non-Modal on the fly? Not in this universe. There are many things you can't change "on the fly" when using a GUI, the basic reason is that once the Gambas executable is "started" from your codes perspective it has...

Very seriously, if that is true then if I were you I'd be looking to upgrade. I doubt anyone here could help. Version 2.2 was a very long time ago.

Re: Sometimes Form Modal or Non-Modal

This bit does not make sense: 2. I run Form Search, it is placed before the FMain and I want it to be stay static on the screen before the FMain until I close it, manually. 3. I run Form Data Entry, when doing so Form Search is hidden (does not close), let's say that it remains behind FMain. Try aga...

Re: Program that Starts other programs

Probably/possibly yes, but I would try it in a terminal emulator first. As in, invoke your local terminal emulator with a command to execute and a "hold" so you can see what happens. That is what I have there: Shell "xfce4-terminal -e 'ls -l' -H" Wait xfce4-terminal is my local t...

Re: Program that Starts other programs

I might have accidentally stumbled on a simple solution for you. In your "startup" project try using Shell <cmd+args> WAIT e.g. Shell "xfce4-terminal -e 'ls -l' -H" Wait ( It was sitting in a v old program we use to swap between various object editors. It never occurred ...) b

Re: QT5 Information

Sorry, my bad.
That last one should be QT_LOGGING_RULES=*.debug=false;*.qpa.*=false.
It gets rid of annoying gaff like "qt.qpa.xcb: QXcbConnection: XCB error: 3 (BadWindow), sequence: 1421, resource id: 23759460, major code: 40 (TranslateCoords), minor code: 0"

QT5 Information

This is more "specialized" than the "DidYouKnow" thread and is intended for those who have particular interest in getting the most out of the gb.gui.qt/gb.gui.qt5 components. 1) Getting your executable projects to work with your local qt5ct configuration This one has been irritat...

Re: Allowable characters in sqlite3 database file names

Generally, and not specifically to SQLite, the engines tend to dislike (with extreme prejudice) anything but actual data with spaces in it. I think that must be because they rely on parsers that detect spaces as word boundaries. But just as a "schoolroom" example, consider naming some file...

Re: Creating a library

Thanks Bruce. Compiling from source means I don't need to install backports, which can be risky. I haven't done it yet but I'll let you know if I get any problems. As I said, I don't need the gtk libs but no harm in having them I guess. To be serious. :o Go for it, if you have even the slightest of...

Re: Creating a library

And one other "noice" thing about compiling from source is that it is entirely "package hell" free. I got so sick of "you cant install that because you haven't installed * gambas.xxx.yyy.zzz.alpha_plural_z.rpthnigo/dbpk_umlaut" stuff. Package installation is OK for the ...
