Anyone know what this is from :
: Gtk-WARNING **: 17:53:17.609: Negative content width -5 (allocation 13, extents 9x9) while allocating gadget (node entry, owner GtkEntry)

I don't think you have anything to worry about. GTK often throws up a warning. Have a look
here. If it bothers you, try changing from
gb.gui to
gb.gui.qt.

after making the change you suggested I get a different error
this is a new install of Fedora 26 Gnome ... May not be completly compatable
QSocketNotifier: Can only be used with threads started with QThread

We will need to see your code, or part of it that creates the warning, to progress any further.
